Hello dear readers,
I hope you are still reveling in the excitement of this happy and joyful season. It is so beautiful and jolly, but it can be a bit tiring at times (often, perhaps?).

If I am honest, I would tell you that I am exhausted. I’m the kind of tired that cannot be made-up with fancy cosmetics and a good night’s sleep. I’m the kind of tired that needs days, maybe weeks, from which to heal. I knew this time was coming and I feel as though I have pushed through the struggle and am just entering the other side. The season of rest.

We are currently in the first part of a long cross country trip – which may not sounds restful to most people, but it’s so far outside of my “normal” and makes it nearly impossible for me to do my normal work that it is the most reful thing on earth. We drove 1,500 miles last week, stopping along the way to experience the local flavor and landscape of the many towns/cities we passed, and ended up in the mountains of Colorado where we will spend a couple weeks resting, playing, hiking, skiing, and reuniting with family.

The fresh air and happy faces are a beautiful balm and I am excited to come back to my beautiful studio with fresh eyes and renewed ideas. Creativity is very hard on a worn-out, faded imagination.
Good things are ahead and this is as much a part of the creative process as the actual artwork.

If you would like to follow along with our adventures (and there will be baby of them!) follow my personal account on Instagram: @Emily_Jeffords_Life (my more popular “artist” account is @Emily_Jeffords).

Merry Christmas, dear people! I am so thankful for you.

Below are a pile of photos I took during the first couple days of our trip. Beautiful moments.

Beautiful photos! I hope you have a great trip! 😊

I am experiencing this also! Nearing the end of a year-long push for a series of solo exhibits has brought me to my knees in exhaustion. After a few days of enjoying family and friends and the quiet blanket of snow I’ve been made to slow down and breathe in life again. And now I feel ready to return to the work that needs to be done. Somehow I need to incorporate more recovery time into my process. . . life is a giant learning curve. Enjoy yourselves!

Amazing photography! Yes, the holidays can be stressful and exhausting (particularly if one is hosting or has many responsibilities). I pray you regain your strength, and find fresh ideas and renewed physical, mental and spiritual strength as you travel and recharge with your beautiful family.
Blessings, Crystal
