Not Your Average Yellow Rose: New painting by Emily Jeffords (mio)

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a grand weekend in the sun!  It’s actually too hot and humid to really do anything here, but the girls and I did manage to go enjoy the Charleston farmer’s market downtown and do a little shopping on Kind Street (btw, if you haven’t been to Charleston, just go head and buy a plane ticket now.  It’s such a great city!!)

I also did a little oil painting over the weekend — well really, I started it last night at 11:30pm and finished it somewhere between 1:00 and 2:00 am (what is wrong with me??).  I snapped a photo of these rustic looking yellow roses at the farmers market a couple of weeks ago and have been meaning to paint them ever since.  I love the various shades of yellow and creamy gray…  And I LOVE painting on this pattern fabric!  It seems to add a really nice graphic detail that contrasts really well with the organic brush strokes.

What did you get to do this weekend?  Here’s to a great start to a great week!  Have a lovely day, ya’ll!
