Hello everyone! I hope you all had a grand weekend in the sun! It’s actually too hot and humid to really do anything here, but the girls and I did manage to go enjoy the Charleston farmer’s market downtown and do a little shopping on Kind Street (btw, if you haven’t been to Charleston, just go head and buy a plane ticket now. It’s such a great city!!)
I also did a little oil painting over the weekend — well really, I started it last night at 11:30pm and finished it somewhere between 1:00 and 2:00 am (what is wrong with me??). I snapped a photo of these rustic looking yellow roses at the farmers market a couple of weeks ago and have been meaning to paint them ever since. I love the various shades of yellow and creamy gray… And I LOVE painting on this pattern fabric! It seems to add a really nice graphic detail that contrasts really well with the organic brush strokes.
What did you get to do this weekend? Here’s to a great start to a great week! Have a lovely day, ya’ll!
This is such a beautiful painting! I like that you painted it on a printed fabric. What inspired you to do that?

Thank you!!!
We went to the art supply shop in Savannah (pretty much, heaven for artists thanks to SCAD!) and there were the most lovely linen canvases there, but you could only use acrylic paint and I use oils… so I learned about clear gesso, and one thing led to another, and now I’m making my own exciting canvases!

I think it does! I’m absolutely worthless in the mornings… it’s pretty bad.

These are beautiful, Em! How big are they? I think I could find a spot for them on my new walls somewhere

Well, now that you’re adding more walls to your house, you have so much more room for paintings!!
This painting is pretty small. 4x4x2. I love painting on these small, chunky “canvases”!
