About Me + My Artwork
Hello!
I am an artist and designer, currently living just outside of Charleston, SC. I graduated with a degree in Fine art in May, 2008, and also studied graphic design and photography. Right after college, I married my husband and started teaching art. I am now an “Air Force wife”, mother to the CUTEST little girls, art blogger, and full time artist & designer.
I believe being an artist and designer is far more than a day job, it is a way of life. I try to continually challenge myself by creating consistently, (often finishing a painting, collage, or design each day) researching, exploring, and discovering new ways to express myself. I love helping others view their world differently through art.

it is always good to find, read new blog but about this….i liked your blog it’s really different ….full of one passion and specially watercolor painting are great keep updated
Ok now I want to revise every negative thing I’ve ever said about watercolors. I like your watercolors!
Well thank you! What a compliment! Think I use the medium a little differently than a lot of traditional watercolor artist do (hope they don’t get too mad!)
I like the catchy atmosphere of your paintings!
I have just had a visit at the most awesome blog. Though I haven’t studied art, but I can see art at its best. Great work. Have a beautiful life.
I really enjoyed strolling through your blog and etsy page. You have a wonderful artistic style. I am amazed you completed a painting everyday with even one child. I am lucky if I finish a simple sketch. You are my new hero, I would love to know your secret. I will defiantly be stopping by frequently to see what new things you have posted.
Wow, Thank you for the high compliments! The “secret” back then was to be willing to put painting before almost anything else. That isn’t always the most healthy option. Thankfully, I had a completely supportive husband and a very, very good baby. However, I think my new work ethic is not only more practical, but refreshing for me as an artist. The key is to keep creating no matter what!
Papa Sakura of Sakura Lights pointed me in your direction and I am so glad he did, because I really enjoyed your blog and may I add that you have a beautiful family
I will now be following you

I only read this post, and you just make me feel confident. I hope your husband is well. Tell him thank you for serving our country. Have a ice day!

I love your work so much! They are pure and simple, however really really beautiful.
May I ask how do you do your graphic designs?! Were they done with Adobe Illustrator?
I create all my designs in photoshop + illustrator. I have the whole adobe suite, but honestly, these are my two favorites and they do the job very well!
Hope that helps!
I love your blog so much! Your paintings are cool! I checked out your shop as well and reading about you reminds me of what I am trying to do in my life. I love photography, sketching, watercolor, graphic design and have done drawings since I was a little. I’m majoring in Art and Design and Looking at your work it’s inspiring me to just keep going in school and learn as much as possible to have a career in this stuff. =]
I am sooo glad to hear that! I know what you mean, I am still challenging and proving to myself that I can do “this” every day! Being an artist is not at all easy, but you can do it, and your can do it well if you put your heart in your work! Just keep creating!!!

Hi Emily,

I am going to follow you now, you will become one of my sources for inspiration and creativty.
I am not an artist but I do get involved in the booming Miami arts community, as I live in Miami.
I try to be creative in my daily life and work too as a real estate agent, dealing with clients from all over the world and working for Sotheby’s International realty, the real estate diivision of the Sotheby’s art auction house.
Who took this beautiful black and white photo of you, your husband and your children in the “About me ” section ?
Are you using the free version of WordPress blog or did you get to choose a customizable and paid version ?
All the best to you and looking forward to reading your future posts !

Hello Arielle!
Thank you so much! I’m so happy to have you here! I love meeting art appreciators and advocates. Welcome!
As for the photo of my family, my cousin took it on our recent trip to NYC. She’s still in high school, but is quite talented!
I am using the paid version of wordpress, however, many of the customizations you see are available with the free version. Most of the buttons and images on the sidebar are just images I designed and uploaded.
Good luck with your blog! It looks like you’re developing a nice community!

Its tough but fun. I’ve started selling my work door to door and found success. I think my unique twist on the maze has really helps me get in the door. But I just cant imagine doing anything else!! I will definitely stay tuned!
I am used to using oil pastels but with the pictures I am thinking of going back to oil colors. truly wonderful
You should! I have only used oil pastels a few times. I should break out my old set and try pastels again too. Thanks for the compliment!
Emily
